Why too old? Your goal is not to become a world champion, just to train, get in shape and have an activity. I so go for it and have fun with it.

I would take kickboxing over karate but if I could choose an art I would take a form of grappling such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. 25 is not old. I'm 29 and I started taking BJJ when I was 27. There's guys in my school who are in their 40s and are ripped. I've lost around 22 pounds since starting, that includes dieting. Training in the gi itself makes me loose 3-4 pounds of water weight in a single night, so it's a pretty intense workout. Some schools might even have a gym inside which is the case with ours.

At age 25, it is very possible that you are only 30-35% through your lifespan.

Too late? It's never too late!

The karate dojo I train at has people ranging from 14-65. It just goes to show that age isn't a factor in doing a martial art.

Personally, joining gym could never motivate me to go. had gym membership for past 10 years and probably went on average of once per month

So join whatever that would motivate you to continue doing it. just know your limit, and don't push too hard if you are old, you can really hurt yourself and your body is slow to recover. I'm too old to even play basketball anymore since I severly hurt my back the last time I played.
But you are 25!! Come on!! You can do anything. I wish I was at that age again. Try everything you can, and stick with what interest you. just don't quit.

Never! I started Kung Fu when i was 28 and i've never looked back! Plus if it's for fitness is gives you the extra drive to change bad habits in other areas of your life too. Do it, man, DO IT!!!!
