Default Blu-ray in the UK

I recently bought a PS3, so I'm now keenly interested in BD releases in the UK, but am becoming more and more disappointed at what is out there and how long it's going to take for movies I want to become available. HD-DVD, on the other hand, has loads available and seems to be blitzing BD for content. E.g. available now on HD-DVD we have:
Total Recall
Serenity
Rambo
V for Vendetta
Superman
Superman II
Basic Instinct
Enter The Dragon
The Pianist

And on BD - not a lot of interest to me apart from Casino Royale. I was really excited about getting Gattaca on BD, but the release date seems to have been put back to October. I understand that the format war will not be won and lost in the UK, so my hope is that BD will open up such a big lead in the US that the format war will be over, and that will have a knock on effect on content availability elsewhere.

What looks a bit more promising for BD in the UK is that shops seem to favour it, e.g. HMV now has more shelf space devoted to BD than HD-DVD, and the future release schedule on play.com looks more promising for BD, with only 20 future HD-DVD releases listed and 51 BD releases, some of which are of interest to me, though they wouldn't be my first choice of movies to release.

I have bought a few BD discs, though Casino Royale is the only one I would have still bought if there had been a greater choice of content. Some people have suggested to me this is a deliberate ploy by the studios, release poorer content in the early days to get people to buy discs they wouldn't otherwise buy if their preferred movies were available. But the picture quality of the discs I have is very good, I'm impressed with the BD format, I just wish they'd hurry up and release more movies!

For example, what is stopping them releasing the Bond movies? They've already all been remastered for the ultimate edition dvds, it's surely childs play to make BDs from those recent new masters. Nine of them were remastered at 4k, which should make great BDs. The rest were remastered at 2k which seems a bit short sighted of them.

Sorry for the rant, had to vent somewhere! I want my BDs and I want them NOW!

I would suggest you import from the US 75% of titles seem to be region free!

The line up we have coming looks good.. and we always take a while to ctach on to new formats.

Give the PS3 six months.. and there will be alot more titles about.

As I always seem to say.. BR is only a baby

I get all mine from the US because the PS3 is region free. They are sooo much cheaper too. Many titles in the stores are £25 here.
