Question HP QuickPlay questions

I just swapped out the DVD-RW in my HP dv9000cto laptop with a Blu-Ray reader/DVD-RW unit made for this PC. (MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ-120 ATA Device)

I downloaded the latest QuickPlay (version 3.7 - is that the latest?) and popped in the Police Certifiable BD disc to test the setup. The disc played fine and all, but the PQ was not what I expected. When I play this disc on my desktop, the video is crystal clear, while on this laptop, it looks more like standard DVD quality. It's good, but I'm not blown away.

Is this a function of the QuickPlay not having the same PQ ability as PowerDVD, or is it just that the laptop (I have the BrightView Display) display is not as good as my desktop Viewsonic 23" monitor?

Thanks

My desktop is at 1680x1050, 32bit color, while the laptop is at

1440x900 32bit color, so I suppose that's probably part of the "problem".

Blu-ray at 1440x900 will look better than a DVD at 1440x900, but will not be as good as if displayed on a 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 display.
