Default 5 speakers all the same ?

Is there a down side to having 5 speaks all the same size in a 5.1 surround sound setup? Or would this be the best way to go?

Nope.. There is nothing wrong with that since it guarantee all the speakers will be the same acoustically.

a dedicated center and four of the same speakers for the rest of the surround would probably be better, but like above should be good to go.

Using the same speaker all the way around is the best way to do it if you can and have the room.
