i dont use plugs. some people like them because it looks cleaner. but if your wires are in a habit of fraying it can short out on the receiver so they may be a good idea. some people have this happen and thier receivers auto shuts off without notice.

It's a veneer. I'm not a woodshop guy, but understand that you don't want to go do some heavy sanding. This is a thin veneer that's been glued onto MDF. You could sand through it and/or the woodgrain if you're not careful. I'd recommend to talk to someone who knows more than I do, but maybe you could scuff it up with a really light grit sandpaper and then paint it. Or it's possible it may not stick at all.

I would not paint or try to stain those speakers, as far as I know that's not real wood so sanding wouldn't help and paint might look pretty bad. If you want to change them the right way you need to find a black covering, like a laminate or a speaker vinyl and roll on contact adhesive and apply the covering. but my advice is to leave them

One thing I am worried about is the cs2 speaker fitting on my mantle over the fireplace. |
