get journey to the center of the earth 3-D it sucks in 3-D. I thoght that 3-D would have gettin better from jaws 3-D 25 years ago. but no it still hurts my eyes and everyone looks green. will watch the 2-D from now on I went to a IMAX 3-D movie and thay used polarized glasses for the 3-D looked so much better. why cant thay use them for Blu-ray movies?

Yeah it is still the same gimmick. It was fun for my kid, but there's now way to assess the PQ with 3D.

I also had a similar problem. My eyes kept taking turns on which would be the more dominant eye. So at times i would see a red tint and at times i would see a green tint, ,and at times i would see the correct tint. found this very annoying and distracting that i had to switch to 2D mode. It was similar to you closing one eyes at a time to see the green or red tint. Only difference it was a lighter shade of the tint as opposed to a darker tint when i was closing 1 eye at time

some of the Tv lines have 3d ability that uses polarized glassed. Problem is the TV have a port for the 3D ad on you have to purchase separatley. Also I don't think there are any blu-ray/dvd that are coded for this yet. You have to run the video feed into a PC, which uses s/w to encode the materila into 3d, then the 3d transmitter that you plug into the TV, syncs this with your polarized glasses.

It may be a whiel before the polarized version fo 3D makes it to dvd/blu-ray. I would buy the #D transmitter/glasses for my samsung, but am waiting for media that has this support built in as i don't want to run this through my PC to achieve.

They're working on ways, and there may already be ways, to view 3D movies on televisions using polarized glasses. There are some 3D tvs that don't require glasses at all. Just give it time. I'm sure a fitting solution will come along soon enough.

Yeah, I think the thing is to work on the technology first, then release media in 3d. Not the other way around. I found the 3d effect pretty good in slow shots, but also found it nearly monochrome. My wife also. I didn't think the action was as good with the 3d probably as eyes weren't adjusting quick enough.

But seriously, who the hell could watch a whole movie in a black and white green tinted format? It is hideous.

I wonder how U23D will be presented on home video. It was great at IMAX.

Maybe something like this could catch on, and in a few years the prices will be more reasonable:

But now that the Quad HD 3D TV genie is out of the bag, the technology is ready to go mainstream. Except there's one tiny, but important part that's missing.

Autostereoscopic displays, Prof. Dodgson says, 'have the potential of making an impact in the consumer market. However . . . there needs to be a significant amount of good content, which it is currently lacking.'

Because content is king, Philips will promote their 3D WoW Technology with the TV. 3D WoW rewrites regular HD programming to 3D (see screen shot below) so users can pick for themselves which specific blade in the 3D version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will be coming at ya.

...

Philips promises up to 46 views at once, which means the resolution is 23 times better than the crappy 3D you've seen before.

That's what I did and I had a vibrant and satisfying experience watching Journey...Center...Earth. Polar Express 3-D was also fine for me with brightness/color/contrast adjustment.

It would be nice if the BD itself had a 3-D calibration screen to assist with proper set-up.

What will the next 3-D Bl-ray be? I am hoping for Beowulf, but we might get BOLT on 3-D first.... maybe....

Journey to the Center of the Earth sucks no matter how many dimensions it's presented in.

Seriously though, the IMAX 3D stuff has always given me a headache. I have yet to try one at home, but I suspect it would do the same thing.

I saw Polar Express in 3-D at Target and was tempted to buy it. I'm glad I saw this thread. What a bummer. I don't think I'd like watching movies with little glasses on anyhow... I'm sure they'll come up with something better! Hopefully!

The 3D is infinitely better in the theater and there is no comparison to the home video versions. The image in the theater is 2 images interlaced and th epolarized glasses decode the images. This is not possible on a TV (unless you buy the current shutter glass systems which have a limited amount of movies). The technology is coming but will be a ways off.

Do NOT let the red/blue system turn you away from seeing something like MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D next month!

Speaking of 3-D anybody heard about any news on a new collectors/limited edition 3-D beowulf coming out on blu, I really want to buy this but I'm holding out so I don't have to double dip. Christ Hanna Montana can get 3-D but no Robert Zemeckis.
