Default Blu-Ray Player for now (1080iTV) and later (1080pTV)

My girlfriend's family has had this 70 inch Mitsubishi rear projection 1080series TV for almost 10 years now, and all we've ever watched on it was regular TV and SD DVDs. When I got my Panasonic HVX200a, I shot some footage, and plugged it in via component, and it was amazing to see HD for the first time!

I don't know much about TVs and how they work with players, but I as a videographer I'm very familiar with the differences between progressive and interlaced, frame rates, pulldowns, resolutions, etc. I work with all of this on camera and computer, but once it gets to TV, I'm clueless.

When I heard that some Blu-Ray players can play 24p (with no pulldown), I was amazed! I got excited, but then I realized that 24p must only be a digital (HDMI) option, and impossible for our 1080i TV with only analog component inputs. Am I right?

I want to buy a good Blu Ray player that I can use now via component with our 1080i TV. But I want to find one that is 24p capable, so I can use it later on when I can afford a 1080p TV.

Would 24p capable HDMI Blu Ray players also work with a 1080i component TV? Does anyone reccomend any specific players?
