I don't think they would delay the movie for a possible live action LJA movie as Thor was always meant to be a tie in movie and they delayed it to release closer to the movie. This Justice League movie was always going to come out weather they have a live action JLA movie or not. The only tie in movie's DC has done are Batman: Gotham Knight and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.

They aren't going to delay it. If you think that, you may as well think Batman: Year One is going to be delayed to be released alongside Dark Knight Rises. There are times, like Gotham Knight and Emerald Knights (as detective mentioned above), that the animation lines up with films, but those decisions were made a long time before they were actually greenlit. For the most part, DC Animation is a separate entity.

There are lots of cool DC universe stories that they haven't adapted... I'm sure they are trying to go for the ones they have the best idea of how to adapt first. DC maintains rights to all of its stories... so there would be no way for Alex Ross to allow or disallow adaptations of any of his DC Super-hero work. Wildstorm might have different contracts... but the traditional DC universe is work-for-hire stuff that always has the rights residing with DC. Alan Moore hates movie adaptations... so you can bet he would have stopped Watchmen if he could. |

It is odd, the two movies I have with the Batman Superman pairing do center or hinge on the Batman character. |

The story would also be very hard to cut down to 70-minutes, and the themes are very mature. Warner's nominal target audience for DC animation films are 10-13 year-old boys, and they will only release PG-13 or below. The same problems occur for the other obvious DC comic to turn into a movie, Identity Crisis. Adult fans only get marginal consideration in the calculation, even though the average comic book fan is now in their late 20s. |
