Question Alien 30th Anniversary release ?

Anyone know about Fox's 30th anniversary of Alien , possible BD release?
The film deserves the same attention Blade Runner got.

Any legit info/suspicions/rumors would be appreciated....

Package that with Aliens and you'll have one of the best SciFi double-headers out there.

They should release it on Blu-ray in a pack that includes Aliens (Both Versions), Alien 3 (both versions) and Alien Resurrection.

Yes it should get the same treatment as Blade Runner. I watched my Laserdisc of Blade Runner Directors cut, then checked out some scenes on the Blu-ray and DAMN! It looked great.

Alien HAS gotten the same treatment as Blade Runner.

I cant imagine much more that can be done with the film that wasnt done already on the Alien Quadrilogy.

To this day, that, the Lord of the Rings, the Pearl Harbor Vista Series and of course Blade Runner represent some of the work that can be done for a film.

As long as they get top notch transfers and include lossless audio, you still would have a HELLUVA set if they merely just ported over the extras from the Quadrilogy.

Aliens, didnt look all that great on dvd, so I do hope that gets a nice picture quality upgrade.

Instead of blu-ray quadrilogy, can I have a trilogy instead? I don't like the fourth movie.

There was stuff that didn't make the Quadrilogy. Shockingly there's actually the potential for more

Yes, the transfer on the Quadrilogy is quite clean. In fact I would say it's cleaner than some of the other ones.

ALIENS needs serious work. It looked the worst by far.

I only liked the first two films, I like all the rest of David Fincher's work except Alien 3.

Aliens was shot on a low budget, on Super35 in the dark

I've seen fairly new prints of it, it's a grain beehive no matter what. It's how the film looks

Maybe thats a good enough reason to try and remove some of the grain. I say some because if you remove it all we'll have a hazy fuzzy type picture.

2009 is the 30th Anniversary.... Good chance we will see it soon. I want the quadrilogy... the whole damn thing in 1080p. And Fox, please use a nice multi-disc keepcase that takes up a minimal amount of shelf space. The DVD quadrilogy had the worst packaging of any multi-disc set. It literally took up the whole dining room table to open that stupid thing. Get someone with common sense to develop the package design this time around.

You mean you didn't like having to stretch out the packaging 15 feet to get to your movie?

LMAO. My thoughts exactly. I would LOVE individual cases. Although of seperate I may just buy Alien, Aliens and Alien 3. Resurrection was such garbage. Still, they would probably do a case like with Die Hard collection.

Wicky, correct me if i am wrong, but i believe Bill made comments awhile back either in his thread or on thedigitalbits that there FOX was working on these for a future release...possibly in 2009? I could have sworn i read it somewhere from one of the insiders.

Maybe they could put each of them in coffee book cases?

Well, Id like to see the ALien 3 doc redone with Fincher's participation, but I gather that will NEVER happen and Fox has stated that the uncut documentary will never get released.

Id also like to see the coocooned Burke scene in Aliens

Other than those two things, Id say the Quadrilogy is pretty much a complete set.

Charles de Lauzarika did an awesome job.

I have the Directors Cut of Aliens on CAV Laserdisc but I would like to see it looking better (and un-interupted) on Blu-ray. Not to mention that my Aliens pack takes up a shit load of room on LD.
