I’ll still stick with Arrow but great for Region A only folks. Though honestly I don’t see Shout’s encode being that great.

LOL @ all the trolls who thought that Shout had the best transfer that didn't need to be improved upon.

Lo and behold they re-release it 2 years later with the 4K o-neg scan.

Seriously though, when are they gonna announce remastered editions of films that ACTUALLY NEED IT??

*ahem*CAT PEOPLE*ahem*

They Live also could've used a remaster when they re-released that as a steelbook.

Great another version of The Thing to argue over ... if Crow hasn't eaten himself by now, he's going to be pecking anytime.

*sigh*, Thing is one of my top 5 favorite movies, no bones about it. And I do love the art. But I just really feel at this point we should get a 4k. It's milking the wagon and at $30 plus shipping....I dunno. Probably just wait for this to come down in price and skip the litho...I already have a nice giant poster in my movie room of The Thing.

Thinking I’ll probably sell the steelbook, keep the remastered disc, and put it with the regular release just to have the theatrical art.

It will probably be the same 4K transfer from the Arrow release.

Yeah I don’t know, I love their original release. I preordered Halloween 2 already, maybe I’ll bite on this if it hits $15.

At this point, nothing but a UHD release will do.

I don't know if I'm going to buy this one.
A. Is this Arrows scan? (Edit: nevermind looks like it is)
B. Only a short time until this comes in UHD considering so many other Carpenter movies are now getting the 4K treatment this year.
(Halloween, Christine, The Fog, Prince of Darkness, They Live)

Didn't Shout say they aren't doing UHD for their movies?

Uh, that artwork is ugly. What is this, an anime? Just give us the original poste - oh no wait, Arrow already did that. Poor Shout, they kinda look like they know they've lost and are giving into the 4K restoration. Their encoding is bound to be less than optimal, so the Arrow would still be better, at least for the film. If you want the best all-round package, well, that's up for debate.

Not sure what you mean. The artwork isn't copy and pasted from anywhere. They are using the same artist to create original artwork for them and actually letting the artwork exist on the steel with out a bunch of text to hide it. Now I really dislike the artwork, I'm not a fan of the artist but I wouldn't call it copy paste. It has that whole "Mondo poster" feel. I definitely prefer Arrows original art to that as well.

Who is releasing Prince of Darkness, The Fog and They Live in 4K? I must have missed those announcements.

Not sure what you mean, Arrow did not give you the original poster, they gave you the artwork with a new font, placement of the title and some fancy touches to the title so it looks like it's being lost in the snow.

They’re all copy and paste with the same boring theme of a giant location (in this case The Thing) in the background with characters in the foreground. To me the only time this made sense was for “The Fog”.

StudioCanal are releasing 4K UHDs this Fall.
