Default "Ancient" LCD Calibration Question...

Howdy. I've been a lurker for a while and just recently got into the Blu Ray realm with the rest of you. For certain reasons (baby coming in 2 weeks), I'll be staying home ALOT more than usual, and started getting more involved with the home theater "hobby". I have a Sony Grand Wega KF-60XBR800 LCD and can't find any tweaking tips or settings on the forum, or anywhere else for that matter since it's an older model. I do have the DVE HD bd coming in a few days, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other websites or methods to help calibrate.

Anyway, I love this forum & have gotten in trouble with the wife for reading posts for hours on end.

Thanks in advance.

Sticky: Calibrate Your HDTV

many helpful links at the bottom of the first post.

...otherwise, you should just wait to get the DVE disc. Adjusting to your own environment/personal taste is the best way to go without paying a professional.

Just use your DVE disk. Settings posted from someone else, does not mean they have your eye's, your seating distance, your environment, calibrated with same machine, etc. etc.

"Sharing" settings is useless.

Wow, talk about fast response! Anyway, I am using the DVI connection.

When I bought the Wega in 2003, I was up to date with my research and tech info. But a once I had everything dialed in (set it and forget it), just kinda lost track with new technology & terms - hence my hours of reading this forums posts. I'll run through the DVE & let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks again.

I know that HDNET just to have a calibration time frame early in the morning on their channel, it's been too long now so I don't know if it's still there. It's worth a shot if you have a dvr and do not wakeup that early in the morning. Good luck to ya!

Ok, one more dumb question which I'm sure has been answered somewhere before.... I just got the DVE BD. Which mode is recommended for the calibration? Vivid, Standard, Pro, or Mild. I've seen this addressed but am trying to avoid a divorce from my wife for reading this forum for hours at a time.....

Thanks again.

never use vivid.

as for the other modes, I do not know how accurate the color decoding is...but Id probably use Standard or Pro. (but you may want to read up more on this TV to find out which mode is most accurate.)
