Default Speakers Ordered!

First off thanks for everyones input in my threads, made the plunge last night when i got my in stock notice from newegg and ordered the following

Polk monitor 70's ($400 shipped) newegg
Polk monitor 40's ($154 Shipped) Circuit city
Polk CS2 ($140 shipped) Amazon

got my confirmation emails from them all so i cant wait to get them.

gotta order the sub soon, getting the eD a2-300.

and im still trying to decide between the Onkyo 606 and 806, leaning towards the 606 cause of cost at this time

thanks again!

Polks and an eD sub huh? Did Driver King have anything to do with your decision?

i have a question about the 70's. how much punch do they have bass wise, i just was listen to my fathers Onkyo SR604 and a pair of Cerwin Vega's LS12 and they had some pretty damn good punch

Surface area of a single 12" driver is 113.076"

Surface area of 4x 6.5" drivers is 132.70"

So the 6.5's should displace more air? but i doubt they will hit anywhere near as low as the 12 did?

i plan on getting a sub im just trying guage how they are gonna be on their own (i was happy with the bass output of the cerwin vegas)

there is really no comparison between a 12" and a 6.5"

as far as movies and music go, don't expect the 6.5" to satisfy your LFE thirst!

I like Onkyo products a lot. If you think you might ever move to separates, get the 806, or the Yamaha 663, which is in the same price range as the 606. both have preouts so you won't have to upgrade your receiver, should you get separate amps. I wish I had gone that route to start with, and I won't be getting separates for quite some time.

i doubt i will for a long time, not till im done with college, i was listening to my dads onkyo 604 and the room upstairs is bigger then my bedroom and it filled it very nice so im probably just gonna get the 606 and then just upgrade everything waaay down the road

I would have went with the monitor 40s for surrounds but I wanted to keep it at 1500 dollars. You're going to love those speakers! I owe a big thanks to crackinhedz, who pretty much showed me exactly what to buy for my price range. Even without the sub it sounds amazing, and I couldn't be happier.

I just bought some speakers myself. I found a pair of BLACK Monitor 50's on CC's website, for $99/speaker with free shipping. I need black speakers seeing as i already purchased a black CS2 center channel speaker.

So now all i need to purchase is a set of black Polk surrounds, possibly Monitor 40's or maybe even another set of Monitor 50's. Also needed is a decent subwoofer to get things kicked off.

Any advice Crackinhedz??!! I eventually want to get the eD subwoofer everyone here loves, but is there a $150ish subwoofer that'll keep me happy in the mean time?
