This was rumoured to have been released by Second Sight in December 2017 but I have seen neither hide nor hair of it or any news regarding it.

I messaged SS a couple of times and was told it was on hold but would be released eventually, possibly awaiting a better source.

I don't mind waiting for a technically superior Blu Ray release. Just wish they had said something when it didn't appear.

Thanks for getting my hopes about this again.

This was originally supposed to be December 2016 but a few months before that date the release was changed to Xmas Day 2017.
Clearly not quite right I made enquiries and got the same as the other guy in that the master they were supplied with wasn't up to the job.
And as expected the December release of 2017 was cancelled several months before then.

Its popped up a couple of times on BBC2 in the interim but unfortunately both times in SD.
When the UK dvd went OOP there came a German dvd so I keep an eye out in Germany too in the hope they might be more successful

The first one has a Parkinson interview with Lionel Jeffries but unfortunately he doesn't talk about the film at all.
I don't think the interview was on the reissue.

Wow - I got mine in 2003 when it first came out.
Didn't think it was quite that far back.
So 15 years later and still no Bluray

It's a strange one and I don't know if Second Sight have the rights for a BR release.

Second Sight are undertaking a new scan of The Amazing Mr Blunden as of June 2019, with an anticipated Blu-ray release in time for Christmas. Great news as this was originally announced a few years ago and I have been looking forward to its release ever since.

Getting this on Bluray has been a dream for years. I don't think we could have expected a better roster of special features than that. Madeline Smith has been doing interviews about her classic movies for some time now but to get the other 3 to talk about a movie they did 47 years ago is excellent.

The success of commentaries for movies like this is often down to how good the moderator is so I hope they have a knowledgeable fan of the movie as the mod who can guide them along and perhaps remind them of things they may have forgotten. Otherwise it can quickly become each actor describing what's onscreen and telling us how lovely it was to work with such and such but little beyond that.

Neat-O! I imagine the reason SS kept delaying this was to find a much better source other than the HD master on Amazon Video US, which is a faded and beat up release print (seemingly a UK one as it opens with the Hemdale script logo).

Did SS manage to find an IP or the OCN? There's a chance it may be a release print as well but will look better than the one on Amaozn US.

They abandoned the previous Blu Ray attempt as I recall and I can't remember the reason they cited. They did tell me when I wrote to them a while ago I think it was something to do with needing to find better elements. I'm assuming this has turned out to be the case.
