Default TRANSFORMERS - New Trailer in February!

"Transformers" Trailer In February (www.darkhorizons.com - By Garth Franklin, Wednesday, December 10th 2008 12:11am

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" director Michael Bay says that the first trailer will hit either on the Superbowl or in early February.

Here's the latest update from his official blog: "Back from Egypt and Jordan - we had a wonderful shoot over there... Our Trailer for Transformer you have been asking about - First there will be a teaser poster soon after the new year, and the teaser trailer will be out either in the theaters early Feb. or on the Superbowl. Cannot decide yet. I’m going to release some set stills on this site in a few weeks."

Meanwhile producer Don Murphy says on his site (via Slashfilm) that due to an already large awareness of the project, they are planning to hold off on the big marketing push until near the end - "We’re kind of trying to follow the PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN model, that is, no publicity for as long as possible, since the sequel will have enormous attention no matter what we do."

Maybe I'm off the mark, but doesn't June 09 seem awful quick knowing the amount of post production work that will have to go into the CG for this. Or do they feel that since a lot of the models are already built, they can cut out some of the time. Just don't want them to rush this and turn what could be totaly kick ass into a real disappointment! Just my opinion

Good points yes, but I'm sure they've been working on the Post stuff since maybe Before principal shooting started. And as you wrote, a lot of the programmers already have the software from the first movie, so that might make it a little faster than from scratch.

True... with the script done, you can be working on the CG simultaneously with the live shoot! Good point, wasn't thinking about that at first. Hopefully we will see a few new faces this time around!

Great post! Never to early to talk about these movies! If done right, (example: Batman Begins ---> TDK) wheas the first took people by surprise how good it was and the second is going to build on that, this has the potential to be beyond huge I think!! Again IMO.

Hooray! I'm not the only one that was thinking this!

The last couple of months I've been going over it in my mind. I just don't see how they could turn out a sequel that kicks the ass of the last one with the same amount of production time that the first movie had.

But then ILM are heading up ROTF and Digital Domain are working on it as well, so there is plenty of man power in the effects team.

And as has been pointed out already the CG work would have begun before they got started on principal photography.

Now I'm eagerly awaiting the trailer so as I can get my first impression of whether or not this movie can live up to and (hopefully) surpass the last one in terms of how epic the production values should be!

Anyone know how the Wal-Mart bonus DVD prequel ties into the new film? I seem to remeber someone saying that it sort of gives away where this new film is heading.

Bonus DVD prequel?? What did I miss? please elaborate! I don't remember anything on either the DVD or the BD that referenced it other than after the credits you see Starscream flying off into space.

If I missed this.. please let me know!

It was when Transformers was first released on DVD. The DVD was a special promotion for Wal-Mart. I think it was aroun 20 minutes long or so. I think that Michael Bay said it serves as a bridge for where he'd take the next film, but don't quote me on that. I'll look for a link and post it if I can find it.

Here's a link describing the prequel DVD:
