Default Puny 1000w 5.1 home theater for a 9 meters x 5 m room? How to upgrade.

The room is big, to get a full sorround sound, what should I get next? I got 3 old speakers that my dad has. they are big, like 3 feet tall, Can I hook them up to the home theater? itīs a 1000w without a seperate amplifier, its the built in dvd one.

I guess I will say it first... Budget?

Also, are you thinking about keeping the 3 old big speakers? What is the brand of these speakers?

What HTiB is it- brand/model? What speakers are they- brand/model? At a guess, I'm betting that the "big old speakers" your dad gave you are going to have power requirements that will be difficult for the HTiB to meet.

You also have to wonder how one achieves a 1000watts. What I mean is would you be matching correct ohms too. That's always something you have to be concerned about.
