Default Need help with Audio settings on speakers

i have ran the auto calibration and all ran fine, However i am not happy with the sound. any advice would be nice. its sounds like there is too much bass and then sometimes not enought. also the center channel sounds like it is lacking the punch i was looking forward with the upgrade. what frequency should the speakers be set too as well as the sub? thanks

speakers are set to 100
and the sub too 80.

Not happy with the sound like...how?

You have some great speakers in the KEFs - I don't know too much about the Sony 1200, though...

just seems to be lacking a consistent performance. I have to adjust the settings for different dtv channels and for blu's. Is this just the way it is?

I have assumed that your two front and two surround speakers are the small KEF 2005.2 speakers. These are my suggestions:
  • In your receiver's menu, set all your speakers to small.
  • You need to set your crossover frequency of the subwoofer to 100HZ, the same as your speakers.
  • You don't want to create an audio hole.
  • All your speakers are on the small side. It is a good idea to let the subwoofer handle all the bass.
  • Go to the A Guide to Crossover Networks thread. Scroll all the way down. There is a section on crossover setting at the end.
  • Increase the center channel level about 2 to 3 db.
  • If things do not improve significantly, go to Radio Shack and buy a $50 SPL meter and re-calibrate your speakers manually with the SPL meter. For instructions, read Calibrating your Audio with an SPL Meter.
  • A Guide to Subwoofers thread should help you with subwoofer placement and phase setting.
