Default 2009: HDTV Deals Anyone???

Now that Christmas is wrapping up and we are heading into the new year, I am trying to figure out whether or not I should get a new TV or wait a few months and hope for a price drop. I am like a kid at the candy store , between gift cards and cash, I have enough money to buy a larger set for my theater area. Anyone willing to speculate on price drops, or do you know of any upcoming price drops? And..... when do retailers tend to close out old models and bring in the new?

I bought my TV at this time last year. I do kind of regret it, it was a CRT and you could, a few months later, get the same size and resolution in a flat panel for the same price. That being said there isn't a huge transition like that this year, and I think you'll be much better off than what I was. I was shopping around a while.... there's never really a good time to get a TV, I ended up buying mine because I noticed it was on sale at the time.

I say check the ads every week and if you see something you'll be happy with, go for it.

i'm waiting for CES to go on so i can see what new features the 2009 t.v.'s will offer and what the speculated prices are. I believe CES is around Jan 9th so it's not that long to wait and see what's to come out. The thing i hate about buying models right before the new ones are released, is knowing that i don't get a year of use before something better is out. That's why if i wait for the specs of the new ones to come out, i can jump on those or convince myself that it wasn't worth it to buy. This way i don't end up with buyers remorse.

I'm guessing 2008 models will probably see some good sales for the Super Bowl in Feb. and also hit some ridiculous close-out prices, but you risk the floor model being the last left.

You will always have buyer's remorse. No matter what is revealed at CES, it will be months, maybe a year away. So, if you wait, then you'll just justify waiting even longer for the next Sony press release about the new features in the LCD line, or Pioneer saying they will introduce something big to the TV market before Christmas. There's always something.

My advice: buy a TV that looks good, that you like, that fits your budget. Sit, watch, enjoy.

Default Costco deals

Costco.com has the Pioneer 6020 for $3799 plus $99 for shipping and a 2 year warranty. I saw the Panasonic 58PZ800 for $2499 shipping included the other day, but it is gone now. Costco or Amazon seem to have the best deals.
