Ahh so that is why it blacked out for a couple seconds during his speech on the west coast. They censored it.

Is throwing up a middle finger really something that is censored on TV?

The use of the middle finger is an old sign that has nothing to do with the way it is used today.

In the days of yore (old) archers would have their middle finger cut out so they could not utilise the bow to shoot arrows again.

In fact, archers would raise the the hand in the air that was to pull the string on the bow and show the middle finger to the opposing side that they still had it intact.

The use of it today by anyone becomes rather silly because they dont have the historical account of its meaning and its been around in society for a long time but not in its original context but a variant one.
