Default Advice on performing runs to Media Markt to get Steelbooks for Users here

Hi all,

I would like to ask a question to the round here and hope to get honest opinions. Since I live in Germany, I am willing to make weekend runs to Media Markt and get Steelbooks for users here, since they are not able to get any themselves.

I did this for the first time yesterday for several people and found the effort of doing them this Favor to be tremendous (driving back and forth several Miles, sorting out orders, buying packing Material, etc...). After that run (and after my wife telling me I was nuts for doing it), I feel that I should be compensated for the work.

My question is what would be considered fair and correct?

Thanks in Advance!

AB

You definately should be compensated for your time. Sure you are doing a favor, but you are spending alot of YOUR time and you could be doing other things.

But what would be considered fair? My wife said I should add 5 Euros to each Disk, but I think that would be too much for you guys due to the exchange rate. I certainly wouldn't mind making a little bit of extra cash, but the question is what would be fair?

Hi jwbbud!

I'm glad that you are here, cos I truly value your opinion. What do you personally think about my Wife's suggestion about 5 Euros per Disk?

I want to be compensated (and maybe make a buck or two ), but I certainly want to be fair.

Since Media Markt price varies, say a minimum of $5 per disc for time (after materials and postage are added in) or 10-15% of purchase price. So, a $30 disc would be $5 extra etc and maybe multiple discs you could to 15% of total price including shipping and material... Again, it all dependson the price you get them for at the media markt you shop at.

I am just throwing out ideas for your valuable time.

Postage would always be extra on top of that. That's why I want to be fair about this.

Well, yeah, postage would be the buyers expense solely.

$30 disc, $5 for time and gas, $3 for packing plus whatever postage price is. Exchange rate is not your problem, that is up to the buyer to factor in. Of course, you are taking a slight risk up front by putting out your own money, but people here are not likely to stiff you for the steelbooks.

Being fair in one thing, not coming out at a loss financially/time wise after you do this favor for others is another. Just be upfront, honest and people (like me) will be more than willing to pay for titles we want.

So generally adding 5 Euros to each Disk (which is what my Wife said) is OK?

Of course, that would include gas and packaging. So people that I would supply to would pay Disk Price (generally 29.99-34.99 Euros) + 5 Euros "surcharge" making a total of 34.99-39.99 plus Postage.

Woud that be considered OK?

Maybe I should listening to my wife more often

More thoughts?

well you have the good and are taking the risk here. I sure hope you are not taking PayPal to be compensated. I would hate for you to do this work and these things get lost or we have a unsavy buyer who claims non delivery, That could get very expensive for you.

OK, if it's your intention to make me uncertain, you did it

I would send per "International Letter" (providing the Box does not exceed the max Dimensions) Registered with Insurance. That means the buyer has to sign for the delivery. That way I will ALWAYS know if it has been delivered, or not. I took PayPal yesterday and it worked out well.

i deal with international buyers on ebay, i know how it is. Charge whatever you feel is fair and maybe the people who bought should send you 5€ for your time, seems fair.

I didnt know you were doing that BTW, i was looking for the HP 1-5 and 300

OK, then I will try this out with you

Harry Potter costs 29.99 Euros each (I got all 5 yesterday for myself ) as does 300.

So I will add 5 Euros to each Disk making them 34.99 Euros each. That would be 6 Disks, so I would need to see they all fit (VERY SAFELY) in the Box wich cannot exceed the following dimensions: H+W+L=90cm. If it fits I can send it per "International Letter" which costs 12 Euro + the additional service "International Value" which adds 2.05 Euro + 1.50 Euro per 100 Euro Block of Insurance (for 6 Disks I would get 2 Blocks) making total Shipping 17.05 Euros.

I am planning on going again next Saturday, so let me know ;-)

Also, keep in Mind that the closest MM is about 50 Miles away and Gas costs 1.20 Euros per Liter here (that's about 4.50 Euro per Gallon).

Just wanted to throw that into the equation as well ;-)

OK, you got it. What would you think of this Idea my wife had:

I could post a new Thread for every run in the Trading area. Users can then post their "Wish Lists". That way I have the run completely documented in a central place. I was almost embarrased that I didn't think of that ;-)

Do ya think that would go over well?

PS: My wife is really starting to scare me with these Ideas

The reports that I have heard state that The Superhero Movie IS NOT A STEELBOOK.

Troy and 300 would cost you 34.99 Euros each plus Shipping.

AB,

I agree like most have said we certainly dont want you to go in the hole because you are getting these. I think most folks understand and know its fair (especially if the store is that far away from you) but it adds up. While were on the subject if there are any titles left let me know and I can get in on the action....300, Troy or HP or any region free titles let me know.

Thanks for helping out the steelbook addicts in the forum and good luck...
