Default New to Blu-ray.

I have a pre HDMI, HDTV, and would like to know if it is possible to connect the HDMI cable, with an adapter to the DVI port of my HDTV set.

get an HDMI-DVI cable...not an adapter.

and yes, you can play bluray up to 1080p.

Default More detail about HDMI / DVI

Awesome information!
More specifically, I have a DVI slot that's labeled: M-Link / DVI-HD. It has different pins slots than DVI cable you suggested.
Is this a proprietary cable? I can't find it on MonoPrice.
I would love to use my current HDTV for PS3 and Blu-ray movies.

I'm sure it's the same thing. M-Link sounds like a Monster Cable name and DVI-HD sounds like DVI (HD). They all should mean the same thing. DVI.

DVI does not carry audio, so you will need some additional audio cables to either connect to your TV or a receiver.

Before I go to bed, read this since you will probably find it useful for getting into Blu-ray's true capabilities with audio (50+% of the experience in my opinion). This may also be useful.

Default Solution

HDMI / DVI cables to pre HDMI HDTV will work; if the display is HDCP compliant.
They will play Blu-ray and Ps3.
This information came directly from MonoPrice technical support.
Great site!

Default Eureka!

I now have a PS3, and have been enjoying HD gaming and Blu-ray movies on my 52" Mitsubishi 1080i/HDTV (pre HDMI). It is connected with cables from MONOPRICE (HDMI/DVI) directly to the DVI port for video and optical cables for audio.
It's awesome!
I'm not sure why anyone would want any other Blu-ray player.
Thanks for all the cyber help, you ROCK!
