Default Blu's you bought only for the PQ/AQ?

Which Blu's have you purchased even though you didn't like the film, but the PQ/AQ was so good that you had to have it?

For me, it was Transformers. I literally hated the film when I saw it in theaters, but I had to add to my BD collection because it's straight up eye/ear candy .

Why would you purchase a movie you "literally hated?"

Doesn't make much sense to me, even though alot of people do it. I haven't bought 1 blu ray that i dont enjoy. Thats the reason i dont have 100+ BD's like many people on here that buy everything that comes out.

I mostly agree with you. Transformers lost me once one of the Robots started acting "urban." But it does have entertainment value. Plus, I got it for $9.99 with Amazon's Black Friday sale.

Not my cup generally BUT I had to have some of the documentaries rated highly for PQ. Glad I pulled the trigger on some when the price was quite reasonable.

For $10, its hard to say you didn't get your $'s worth. But still if i hated a movie that much, i wouldn't buy it for $0.01.

And how could you "hate" Transformers? You know Megan Fox is in that movie, right?!

A slight slant on the topic, I bought the Transformers BD, having not seen it at all, fully knowing it would put my system through its paces and be visually and sonically amazing.

Fortunately, I enjoyed the movie very much!

I just thought it was silly and corny. You're right though, Megan Fox is worth $10 on Blu.

And why would he say he "literally" hated it? If he just said he hated it, would any of us really think he was speaking figuratively?

I purchased "Sunshine" because others were saying the AQ and PQ were top-notch. I ended up enjoying the movie thoroughly however, so I can't complain about that. Buying a movie that you "literally hated" however, doesn't make much sense to me.

Vantage Point, Youth without Youth, and Doomsday.

All three of these movies have very good reviews with respect to PQ and AQ but less than stellar reviews for the movies itself.

I enjoyed these movies more than the reviewers, especially Youth without Youth.

Deathrace, Eagle Eye, and Max Payne - not highly reviewed movies that have great PQ and AQ (assuming Max Payne has good PQ/AQ). But I enjoyed these three movies too.

I don't think I'll ever understand why people buy movies they don't like. If the only value it has for you is the sensory experience, why not just rent it?

No. And especially not Transformers. Toughed it out because my friends wanted to see the movie, and because of what I do for a living, I did buy it on DVD because of the specialty packaging Target offered. But easily passed on the BD, even on Black Friday. Just not worth it for me. Instead, I'll probably end up getting something like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen someday; it's a cheesy movie I owned on DVD that played too fast and loose with the original comic book stories, but eventually found my way to enjoy.
