Default Jarhead on Blu-ray

I'm gutted!

No bonus materials is an insult..

Top PQ and AQ is the most important thing, but there's so much more to this movie that it's such a shame Universal isn't giving this a prime treatment

Apparently all other regions are getting the HD DVD and DVD extras. Just import it.

well...according to various websites, yes. There's been no back cover posted so who knows. It's possible that Universal changed their mind or was able to use BD-50's on this. We won't know till it's released.

Reminds me of what Universal did with End of Days and U-571...the HD DVD's had all the extras the previous DVD versions had but they didn't bring any of them over for the Blu Rays

If Jarhead gets released anywhere with all the extras, I'll purchase it. If not, they don't get my money. It's that simple.

Its coming out in Australia on 3rd of November, according to EzyDVD it has extras. Not sure if its ALL the extras from the SD-DVD but it does have some.

Its also a Universal release.

Extras shouldn't mean anything. The reason a true film fan buys a Blu-ray is for the film itself. Extras are nothing but a nice perk, but don't forget the fact that we buy Blu-rays for the actual movie, not the extra material.

Wrong answer.

A FILM fan will care about the film, how it was made including everything that went into it.

A movie fan will just want the movie.

I agree to an extend. However if a dvd and hd-dvd had the extras and the blu does not - a big ol' WTF??? pops up on my screen. Does that not raise any flags for you?

I just feel jipped if I bought the film and those extras were not on there. At the rate they are just porting them over, you would think doing the extras would be second nature.

I smell a double dip.

I have the limited edition DVD (which if I remember right had extras the HD DVD didn't) so I don't need the extras on my Blu-Ray as well. I could see being more upset if they went by Fox prices on here though...

You couldn't be more wrong. No one who truly has a love for cinema would not buy a Blu-ray because it lacks extras. Doing this is showing the world you aren't a true fan of film.

I think that both perspectives are unfair. I think it's perfectly reasonable to be content with an excellent presentation of the film alone. I also think it's perfectly reasonable to want the features. Living through too many DVD double dips, I can definitely appreciate the latter perspective.

That said, I may still grab Jarhead sans features, though I can't fathom why they wouldn't be ported. Seems a waste.

Nice comeback there highspeed.

The fact of the matter is, not buying a Blu-ray disc for a movie you really like because of a lack of extras is both foolish and a true indication of that person's lack of knowledge and love in the world of film.

...to you.

To me, it's a statement. I'd rather I have kept the DVD or HD DVD.

That makes no sense, why disrespect the film by having it in a poor format. Give the films you love the respect they deserve by only having them in the best format the world has ever seen, which is Blu-ray.

Uhh...HD DVD isn't a poor format. The picture quality will be exactly the same.

If anything, blu-ray is the "poor" format here.
