I have a Toshiba 62HM195 62 Inch DLP Projection TV. It says it is an 1080p set. Today I bought a Sony BDP-S300 and hooked it up to the tv using an hdmi cable. I would think that it would work at 1080p but I can't figure it out. so right now i have it set to "Auto" output. But i can't tell what it's outputting. I don't think it has the latest firmware, if that would make a difference.
Thanks in advance, Joe |

Hmmmm...
Someone may be able to give you more accurate information to solve your problem, but I have the Sony BDP-S350, and there is an output setting which allows 1080p (HDMI only, obviously), 1080i, etc. Perhaps poke around in your Sony's menu to find such a setting. Your firmware is likely not the culprit, as that parameter would not be a last-resolve in your player. Good luck! - Rob J |

Does your television display information about the current input, such as when you switch sources (BD player, Cable/Sat TV, Game, etc.)? Usually, such a display will tell you what the source signal is.
Your user manual, if you have it, will come in handy here. If you do not have it, then a search online of your make and model number may dig up the information for you. - Rob J |

Typically for sony products, when on auto they will output whatever the max capability of your TV is. If its 1080p then you will have 1080p.
In my kids room they have a Vizio 720p/1080i, and the upscaling dvd player when on auto will output 1080i, but I went into the menu to set it for 720p which is the TVs native resolution. I did the samething in my bedroom with my old Panasonic BD10AK because the Vizio in there is 720p native, so I set the output of the bdp to 720p otherwise it would automatically play 1080i. If you are concerned and cannot figure out how to display the info on the TV (usually there are either a display/info/status buttons for this) then just switch over the Sony 300 to output hdmi at 1080p resolution and make sure you get a picture on your TV. But I am pretty sure you are OK and getting 1080p if you are getting a picture. |

Display at frys. Just updated the firmware to 4.4 from 2.0. and the source direct picture now works. I assumed that meant that if the disc played it would be be in 1080p. It played, but when i used my tv remote to switch inputs to see the display res it still says 1080i. Is there any way to check the picture res from the player directly?
