Default Buy now or Wait

I have been wanting to up-date my movie room to Blu-ray but tv is a panny 1080i and Yamaha reciever is non hdmi. It does however have 6 channel analog inputs which I've been told will work with both the sony 550 or the panny 55 so that was my plan. I thought I would go with the panny since the tv is a panny but can't find the 55 anywhere local. Now I have been reading on here where they quit making them and will have to wait for next model to come out. In your opinion with my older set-up would the wait be worth it or should I just go with the Sony 550.

You will be fine with that setup as long as (like you said) you get the Sony 550 or Panasonic 55. I have both & vouch for both, there very nice BD players.

I can't really pick one or the other features wise??? They have all the same basic/advanced features, I do however like the look of the Panasonic a little better, but the Sony is damn good looking too . See I'm no help .... Your welcome.

If you can find the Panasonic DMP-BD55, I recommend it over the Sony BDP-S550, because the Panny has slightly better picture in blu-ray movies and it also offers better dvd performance. Right now I would to wait and see how the new Pioneer, Oppo, and Panasonic blu-ray players perform like. The new blu-ray players from them might be released in the next couple of months. For the time being, I recommend for you to purchase a 1080p tv.
