Default Do you only buy BD now? Even for sitcoms?

Obviously something like Lost or The Dark Knight is necessary on BD but would you really want to spend that much more to have a sitcom on Blu? It can get really expensive to only buy BDs, so do you settle for DVDs when there may not be a huge advantage?

The only non-blus I have bought in the past 2 years, that I can think of, are some discounted HD-DVDs, a couple of Pokemon disks for my sone and the Robot Chicken disks, that aren't availible on blu-ray

+1. There have been some movies and shows that have not come out on BD that I have picked up just because there wasn't a blu-ray release, ie, The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, Entourage seasons, etc. Generally if its available on BD, I go with the Blu Release.

I buy DVDs all the time, for new releases and DVDs I just hadn't gotten around to picking up yet. I had over 1000 DVDs before I started getting Blu-rays so even if the Blu to DVD price difference is only $5 or so it will add up over time. I try to follow the same rules I used when deciding which of my DVDs I would rebuy as Blu-ray.

I only buy movies on Blu-ray that I personally really enjoyed (whether they are Razzie or Oscar winners, it doesn't matter to me what other people think about them). They also have to pretty good quality in the picture and audio departments on Blu. They have to be the kind of film where the better audio and visual of Blu-ray directly affect my viewing experience. For me this currently means very limited Blu buying of comedies and chick flicks.

I am largely blu-exclusive. I do pick up the occasional DVD when I think it's something unlikely to come to blu-ray. Last week I bought Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip complete series on DVD for $15 at Target.

I won't buy a DVD just because it's not on blu-ray yet, and I won't buy a DVD if a blu-ray is available.

Same here. I will only buy BD's unless I know the show will never be released on that format. The last regular DVD set I bought was both seasons of "The Monkees" TV series that I enjoyed as a kid; not much chance of that being released on BD.

I try to only buy BD but I won't pay BD prices for stuff like sitcoms but will pick up what I want once the price drops.

I am almost completely BD exclusive at this point, except for certain TV shows that were not made in HD that I am still collecting (in which case DVD is fine with me, though now they are very few and far between).....

if the entire series is on BR then yes otherwise i just stick with DVD

like big bang, burn notice etc. only reason i jumped on supernatural seasons 3 and 4 is because i know 1+2 is coming, i got rid of burn notice s2 on BR because it was a poor transfer and they aren't bringing 1 and 3 on BR

ill buy pretty much anything on BR but like i said if its only 1 season (like 24) ill just keep my dvds and get the dvd seasons for 10-15 and wait for the BR to come out if they do

For me if its available on Blu-ray and i want it then i get the Blu-ray never the DVD. I don't care if its $10 on Blu i will just wait for it to drop because i will regret buying the DVD in the long run.

I think I actually buy more DVD's now than before I went Blu! DVD's are so cheap used at this point I'd have a hard time passing them up.

So if your Boys were only on in SD, you wouldn't watch the game?

I buy mostly but not exclusively Blu-ray. In Canada, there is often quite a price difference ($10, or more) between BD's and DVD's so the movie must be worth the extra $.

I only buy music DVDs that have practically no chance of being released in BD. Everything else is BD.

Since I got a PS3 and an HDTV in 2009, I only buy blu-ray DVD is pretty much a dead format to me.
