Default Help Me Recommend A PJ/Screen

I had a customer in earlier who was asking about surround systems and we got to the topic of front-projection for his dedicated HT room... He is looking to spend $1500-$3500 total for a projector and screen (stationary screen) and wants to buy it from me (so retail price, not online)

Can you guys recommend a good projector that will allow room in his budget for a decent stationary screen? He has controlled lighting and about 80 inches (width, not diagonal) to work with.... preferable brands include Sony, Epson, Panasonic, Toshiba, HP, Samsung, and Optoma (these are the brands i can order)

Thanks!

At the high-end of that spectrum is entry-level 1080p projectors like the epson 6100 or some old stock items like a panasonic ae2000u.

I would suggest he look at good 720p projectors, so that he can invest more in a screen and not max out his budget. Then later down the road, if he wants to he can upgrade to a 1080p projector, you do want him to come back.

The Samsung SP-A400B is an excellent 720p dlp projector or the Panasonic PT-AX200u which is a good 720P 3LCD projector. If you can get your hands on a Mitsubishi HC1600, it's very good 720P DLP projector.

Panny AE3000U might be worth looking at, it will use a good chunk of the budget but it flat does everything.
