Default Something I find disturbing

well not really disturbing as i can still sleep at night...but when someone asks about best audio quality on a blu ray....no one on here mentions house of flying daggers...am i the only one who has heard this film?...there is a scene where beans are being flung at drums that by far blows away anything else i own on blu ray as far as aq goes...even if you dont like the movie, which i dont, the aq in the scene is well worth a listen...can i be the only one to experience this?

I feel you.

Awesome scene and a total ear candy experience. Oddly enough, I bought the movie for THAT scene. Sorry...we can't knock fists here, so we'll have to trust eachother enough to punch monitors.

Okay..ready...1...2...3....wait...not too hard okay...I don't want to break my monitor.

OKay...ready.....GO!!!

^^^holy god did you go way off topic here...while i appreciate your response, i have to say you wasted a lot of time typing...no offense...i also did not enjoy, nor would watch the movie again..what i was saying is that the audio quality is so far superior in the bean scene that im surprised more people have not experienced it...it is a perfect scene to demo what blu ray can do...it was more for the people who ask about great audio quality, not what movie they enjoy.

Thanks for the reminder. As the Blu-ray.com review says:
Quote:
Dialog, sound effects and surround cues are rendered with good top-end extension. Nowhere is this more apparent than the famous opening scene set in an ornate brothel, the Peony Pavilion. The blind Mei participates in a sort of exotic dance routine called "The Echo Game". She is surrounded by drums mounted on sticks and must use the overly long sleeves of her ornamental clothing to repeat the drum strikes. Part kung fu, part ballet, Mei's moves echo each drum strike with flawless execution and audio cues. The viewer feels immersed in the scene more by the sounds than the picture.

Soooo you haven't seen it then?

Good lord, all that to say "I haven't seen it, don't want to".

I've seen it - I liked it - Saw CTHD - Liked that too - they are NOT the same - I've not watched HOFD since I got my receiver and speakers - Other people HAVE mentioned HOFD as a great example of AQ (particularly the 'bean scene').

So you know what? I'm going to go watch it right now and crank it up.

So there.

It's a good movie if you like the genre, but the picture quality was disappointing.
