I know there is a large number of you that just loooooove these pointless additions to our Blu rays.
And I will get torched!! But besides being a collectable, they are pointless and deplete our resources. If you want to collect cardboard, collect baseball cards. If there was no disc inside would you just go out and buy that slipcover? Some of you will say yes but realistically in this economy, I think not. Some of you complain about eco cases too. This is Blu-ray.com not Slipcover.com Being Earth Day I find it funny that Cameron still used one for Avatar. Light em' up people, torch away. |

I have wanted to start one for a long while but it would just look like I'm picking a fight but Earth Day gave it cause.

Do you really think "eco" cases are environmentally friendly? They are a marketing ploy to make the studios look like they are more "green." I don't have a problem with using less plastic to make cases, but even you have to admit that the "eco" cases are badly designed.

![]() ![]() I totally agree but so many of us are so lazy that, that would take too much work. I really am not trying to disrespect your hobby, but I think that more people toss them than keep them. |

I recycle pretty much all of my slipcovers. I only keep them if they have alternate artwork, crucial info (like Iron Man and Star Trek) or lenicular effects. Otherwise, they are a pain in the butt to take on and off, and throw off the astehtics of the shelf.

Blame the studios for slipcovers, not the consumers. I don't think a limited run of cardboard slipcovers is going to destroy the planet. I like them, but I wouldn't just buy the slipcover if my copy didn't have one. Either way, all of our movies end up on the shelf collecting dust until we decide to watch one of them.
If you truly hate slipcovers, write each studio a snail mail letter expressing your hatred for them and tell them to stop making them. Last edited by Mr. Cinema; 04-22-2010 at 01:54 PM. |
