Default Offload content from HD Tivo 3: Possible?

The new Tivo HD doesn't have a DVD burner. How can content be offloaded to a PC/network so that they can be archived on DVD/BD on a PC?

Also, anybody else have made use of the eSATA port and extend their recording time?

you can install Tivo desktop which will allow you to transfer recordings over to you PC via your home network. Tivo software does not necessarily allow you to do anything with those files except view them on your PC or transfer them back to your Tivo. If you research it some more you will be able to find converters that will get around that.

I suggest that you do not use the eSATA port and if you want to extend your recording time that you replace the internal drive with a 1tb (~130hrs of HD recording). Adding the eSATA drive does weird things if you pull the drive out, etc. The internal is much more stable.

Converters? What's that? I don't want to re-encode the file's native audio/video bitrate.

This is the site you want for all your Tivo related questions.

There are documented ways of getting recorded programs moved to a computer for archiving to disc.
