Default Sony STR-DG820? Polk RM-6880. Any good??

I found a guy locally who has the Sony STR-DG820 receiver, and the Polk RM-6880 5.1 speaker package. I am going to listen to it tomorrow. But before I go, I want to know: A. Should I buy the Sony 820 receiver from him, or just the speakers, and wait for an Onkyo 606, B. How much should I pay for the package? He has owned it for 7 or 8 months. He is asking $600 for the package. Good deal? Or just buy the speakers and buy an Onkyo receiver?

Well amazon is showing the polk speakers for almost $700. and the receiver is about $299-$399, I guess it would be a good deal. I would listen to it for sure. I take it the dude lost his job or something and he is just selling it for money?? The set up I have would cost about $670 and I have a better receiver and prolly better speakers.
