Default Sub Pre-Out on Receiver faulty???

So for some time now I had been thinking that my ED Subwoofer was the issue possibly with a faulty amp, or the sub cables, but I now think my receiver is the culprit. Has anyone ever heard of the Sub Pre-Out on the rear of the receiver going bad or just failing to work properly? I kinda gave up on the ED sub (mistakingly so possibly) and broke down and bought another used sub. The issue was that it just would not power on. With standby mode set to on, it just seem it would not get enough signal strength to power it on. When i would turn it off and then back on manually, the green light would come on, but no sound at all.

I went and found a used Klipsch SW-450 on CL for $150, which I think was a pretty good deal since they still sell for over $400 dollars on Amazon and Best Buy. Plus the reviews on the sub were over-all pretty good. So i get it home and plug it into directly where my old ED sub sat and with the same connections and all. The blue light on the front of the sub came on as it should with power supply. I then plugged the same connections to it that were running to the ED and to my surprise...NO SIGNAL still! So that could only mean one thing to me, that the sub was not the problem all along...

I then tested out another Monoprice Sub Cable I had stored away and used it instead of the Monster Sub Cable. That one worked and now the Klipsch was up and running...So I decided to try the Monster one again and it worked as well! So then I tried plugging in the old ED A2-300 and it fired up as well! Based on both subs working, with both cables, the only thing I could think of being the issue is the receiver. So in the very least, now I have two subs that work, but after a day or two of working properly, again, no signal and now LFE from either sub. My question is could the issue be my recievier???

Any help would be appreciated...sorry for the long post
