Default "Kill Bill vol 1 & 2: The Whole Bloody Affair." Did I imagine this or something??

I could have sworn that I read like 3 frickin' years ago that Tarrantino was working on a special DVD (and hopefully now blu ray) collection of Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2 called "The Whole Bloody Affair." Was this a complete figment of my imagination or has the project been shelved?

I think that you are just crazy pants.

there are issues, I am sure, regarding Kill Bill because Buena Vista owns the films seperately but Weinstein owns them together. It is strange in my opinion.

Could the joint ownership of the movies be holding up future releases? I am sure that Mickey Mouse as a lawyer already on it.

it's caused problems with a few things. I know the producers of the TV show ED stated that they wanted a dvd release but it was a joint production from NBC and Viacom and Viacom are now part of Paramount/CBS and neither company seems to know who is even allowed to do the release.

I remember when part 2 was released the Best Buy near me offered a box with the purchase that made the 2 films a "set" this was similar to the LOTR extended box I also sent away for to hold the 3 films together.

If I rememeber ill try and take a pic of the 2 sets when I get home.

In reference to the above mentioned title, was it to have a special cut of the film or was it simply to join the films together as Terantino originally wanted?

Here's how the story goes as I heard it.

Supposedly, the reason some of the scenes in the film are in black and white are because in order to get the movie to an R rating, it had to show less blood. The way Tarrantino got around this was he changed some of the scenes to b&w to make it look less gory and graphic. Supposedly, "The Whole Bloody Affair" boxset was supposed to be unrated and all of the b&w scenes restored to color.

I also heard that instead of it being presented as 2 separate films, it was supposed to be re-edited to make it seem like one long film. If you notice the box in the picture posted above, there is no "volume 1 & 2" in the title. It just says "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair." So that would seem to support that theory.

As far as deleted scenes or extended scenes, I don't know about that.

That is precisely the story (literally and figuratively). Weinstein made QT cut the single movie into V1 and V2 because of concerns the single longer release would damage box office take (we're talking like 4 hours so an intermission would be a requirement... theatre owners didn't want to commit to the release since they would only be able to run half as many showings per day, etc.)

"The Whole Bloody Affair" was supposed to be the true QT "Director's Cut" of the original film, gore, blood and duration intact.

I SIMPLY CAN'T FREAKIN' WAIT for this release on Blu-Ray.

One thing I've always wondered is will it be just like watching the two back to back, chronologically, or is it also re-edited, and in a different chronological order?

I read an interview with QT who said the original single movie was in a slightly different order. He had to slice things up a bit when he cut it. Then the whole add-on stuff at the start of V2 (the back story with Uma) would be gone.

Trivia - If you look closely at the start of V2, when she's doing the back story... that was filmed later, after production had shut down, due to Weinstein's directive. Her hairstyle is a bit different and I believe she is more tanned... that was from the next movie she had started to film when she came back for this filler material.

I actually liked the fact that they were two separate movies. They were polar opposites of one another as far as their pacing was concerned.
