Default LG Korea is replacing my HDTV

I'm happy about this...

Ever since I bought my 42" 1080p LCD HDTV from LG XCanvas here in Korea, I have been bothered by a V-shaped unevenness in lighting at the center-left side of my screen. It is noticable enough that it drives me batty while watching SD-TV programming. A faint white "v" is noticable, and can even slightly discolor some dark-colored images in that area.

I had looked at several of the same models in stores, and they didn't have this issue.

The service guy showed up today, and after hemming and hawing about how "this is normal sometimes", and "you must be hyper-sensitive, as some consumers tend to be about this" he gave in and says LG will replace my 3 month-old TV with a new one next week. Actually, they could have replaced it today, but I couldn't get off of work.

The interesting thing is that when I stopped by the LG Electronics store yesterday, they had updated the model slightly, and it looks a little different. It is also priced $500 less. I'm praying that the "new" model I get isn't neutered somehow in features or capability. I thought they changed model numbers when they updated??

Guess I'll find out next week.
