I don't think that this will be the end of the world per say. (Hellfire & Brimstone)

I do believe that it will signify a new age on Earth.

the way some things have been going lately....a part of me hopes so.

the one thing that really scares the crap out of me is wondering what kind of world my kids and their kids may have to live in one day and a part of me doesn't want them to experience anything like that.

There's a 21st month?

No, I don't think it's the end of the world.

Absolutely not. On the 22nd of Dec 2012, expect a new 'end of the world' date. Of course, we only have an uncountable amount of "this is the end, get ready" predictions since the dawn of recorded history to go by.

I don't think so.

In a way... it would be nice. I really had my hopes up for that particle smasher thingie taking out the world in by making a black hole. That sounded like a quick and tidy way to end things. But... that thing broke from what I've read and is off line.

Most days ... I'm up for an end of the world type of situation. I have stopped getting my hopes up though.... I think I'm destined to get old which I guess is better than the alternative though I miss being younger.

-Brian

ps.... I may plan to sneak a look at my X-mass gifts early that year just in case.

LOL....yeah, getting old sucks. Though I have to say, I have SO much more fun as a 'grown up' but the difference is that I was too busy pissing away youth to really take advantage of it.

Not to say I didn't have a GREAT time when I was younger (did typical wild & reckless things) but I wouldn't trade "the now" for "back then" for anything. Got a friend who pines away at the past, so I guess he's doing his pissing away the now just like he pissed away back then.

Amazing how some people's lives greatly resemble Springsteen's "Glory Days".

Default works for me.....

I'll be using my income tax return in April that year combined with all my credit cards to buy the greatest HT system ever just in case. All of us are just looking for any excuse to do it right?

Back 10 years or so, I used to watch a tech show on C:, a Canalsat channel in France.

One day, I remember clearly that they had a documentary starting with accelerated city shots and a voice over saying something like:
"The cold war is now gone, and the fears of an atomic apocalypse are disapearing. We are not going to end in a fiery nuclear blaze after all. We are just going to go on. After the year 2000, and on, and on..."

That struck me hard, as .. Yeah. I guess, there's no end in sight eh?
The world will continue long after me, same as it continued past the billions of lives that have already happened.

I guess there's just a weird "After me, nothing else" feeling in a lot of us (to not say all of us), that make us almost -and I do say "almost"- look forward to some kind of "end". To everything.

This being said, I don't know if anything will happen in 2012, but for the sake of my son who is not yet born but will be a week from now (scheduled Jan 26th 2009), I sure hope the world is going to go on for a long time

I voted no. But with impending oil shortages, falling water tables around the world, over-fished oceans, possible anthropogenic climate change and the effects of an increasing population in a finite world, you never know.
