Default How to cut a pizza?

I've lived in the Detroit area, St. Louis, Grand Forks, ND, Birmingham, AL, Idaho Falls, ID, Houston, TX and now here, and I've traveled many places and eaten. Everyplace I've ever had pizza, except here and ND, round pizzas have been cut radially and square pizzas cut in squares. BUT, here and in North Dakota (except for the national chains, which should be avoided) round pizza is cut in squares. I think this is highly inappropriate. A proper pizza slice has a handle (crust). You should see the tiny pieces you can get with a square cut round pizza.

What's your opinion?

Good old fashion, I need a handle, with cheese inside.

I've had very large round pizzas cut into square before, and sometimes it makes sense, but otherwise, I agree with you. I hate those center pieces.

Who needs their pizza to be cut? Just rip off a piece and roll it up!

Nah, I prefer the old fashion way as well, but some places do actually ask/offer to have it cut any other way.

Now I am hungry!

I've got my two large pizzas right here. They'll feed me this week. There is another Dakota/Minnesota thing that I do like on pizza and that is pickles and sauerkraut. Our local shop makes fresh sausage every day, too. Green (not black) olives belong on pizza, too.

I like:

Pepperoni
Sausage
Mushrooms

That in my book is the perfect pie.

Sauerkraut and pickles on Pizza, how intriguing! Never tried that before, but I am thinking about where to get one of those right now!
Back in Germany we had an awesome Tuna Pizza with a bit of white sauce on it.

Funny thing over here is that the "Hawaiian" style Pizza is just called "Pineapple and Ham"

There is one local place here that cuts pizza into strips. So one long cut splitting the pie in two, and then 7-8 cuts perpendicular to the long cut, to leave you with 14-6 "strips" of pizza. I hate them for doing that, but their pizza is pretty good.

Tell them you want a pizza, not a cheese stick.

Jon, squares out of a round. Insane.
BTW, shears are the way to cut your own pizza, so you can cut on the pan without scoring the pan.

Lived in St. Louis? Ever heard of Imo's or Roma's? They cut it the exact same way you are describing....

agree, rectangular for a rectangular pizza is OK, but not for a round one.

Pizzas are supposed to be cut
I always make a mess of the shape and eat it in a savage and uncouth manner, trust me you wouldn't want to see that.
