Thumbs up Warner, I want Excalibur on BD!

I had the chance to see John Boorman's Excalibur (1981) briefly on HD-DUD and was very disappointed in the source material. I truly hope Warner will go back and remove all of the grain, dirt, and scratches, as they have with Blade Runner, and the Kubrick Films, and really pull out all the stops on this title for BLU!!

Anyone else want this one?

I too would love to see this movie on blu-ray.

But I don't think it has the "status" of a movie like Blade Runner to warrant an expensive re-do.

but we can dream.

They announced this last year, and then postponed it... I hate it when they do that!

One of my top 10 films. I'd love to see it cleaned up on blu.

I'm sure we'll see the already completed HD DVD encode on Blu-ray within the next nine months. But there is no chance that Warner will spend a dime on creating a new master for this movie and re-encoding it. This is a very minor catalog title.

A classic for sure. It's available on HD DVD, so maybe someday soon it will get a revamp and upgrade for blu.

Excalibur is supposed to be soft and grainy. It was shot that way.

Happy to see this much love for Excalibur. Truly one of the great movies and would be a shinning addition to the Blu family. I am also looking very forward to this coming to Blu-ray

I am going to buy the Blu-ray release later this year, if WB keeps their promise. If the grain in the original flim was intentional, I can live with that.

I hope WB releases the BD with lossless PCM 5.1 or DD True HD. The excerpts from Orff's Carmina Burana and Wagner's Gotterdammerung (from Der Ring des Nibelungen), Parsifal, and Tristan und Isolda will do well to have lossless audio tracks. Those should sound absolutely superb.
