Default Sony Home Theater Speaker Discussion/Review

I recently purchased a set of sony ssf-6000 tower speakers, and even more recently I bought the sony sscn-5000 to go with them. I am pretty sure I will buy two pairs (x4) of ssb-1000's for my surrounds when i get the money (and for complete timber matching). I am just woundering if anyone else has used any of these speakers and what they think of them. I am only asking because the prices are so much lower than everything else.

IMO: I know they are not the best speakers out there, but they are so much better than any HTIB. Their performance for games and movies is suprisingly awesome , and musicaly they perform well above their price range. I truly support anyone who is on a tight budget to look into this line of speakers

I have to say that I really enjoy my Sony speakers too. They are better then anyone gives them credit for. I am glad to see that you are happy with them. I think for a HT room they are really great, movies and TV. Music they are like you say above average, but I am not a huge music person, so that matters very little to me. Also, they are meant to be HT speaker, and they excel at that.

Check out below I have the same speakers. My HT setup sounds awesome. Im just average Joe and my friends are as well but it sounds great, and rival far more expensive speakers.

Bacott, I use 3 B1000's for my surrounds in a 6.1 setting and they are awesome. There is nothing bad I can say about them as far as performance and to match the rest of your speakers I understand, I prefer that too.

Morris, How are those 7000 speakers? Did you listen to the 6000's at all before you bought the 7's? If so how did they compare? I really want to upgrade from the 5000's, but I wasn't sure which to go with. Do you use them as music or HT speakers??

I've got the HT-SS2300... I enjoy them but everyone seems to be dogging them. I press select on the movies that offer HD sound and I get it... so I have no problems... I think!

Thing is is that most people don't like the HT setups because they limit you down the road, and they aren't always as flexible as buying seperate components, plus the sound is usually better with a dedicated A/V receiver and seperate speakers... but you pay more for it.

If you are happy and you are getting HD audio and that is what you were looking for, then be happy. Don't be concerned with what everyone else thinks.

For a starter sub it is excellent, I have the 12" sony sub, I hear the 10" is a little weak, don't know about the 15". My sub has good power, it knocks my curtians around with the air being blown out the back. I usually only have it about 3/4 of the way turned up and the crossover all the way up.

I also have the 12'' sub, it kicks ass and cost me less then a hundred bucks. Im telling you this stuff is awesome. Friends are always complimenting my stuff. I paid under a grand for my HT sound and it sounds awesome.

I have the 6000's for fronts and also have the 5000 center. I like them. For the price you cannot go wrong. I got the 6000's for $136 shipped for the pair.

They sound good and are more than adequate for what i need right now, i will upgrade to some klipsch later one but the sonys for the money are great speakers and they are a great way to enter the world of home theater

I really like my Sony Speakers, but the Sony sub is godawfull, they must have been high when designing it, which is why im going for the A2-300

I have the 5000 center, the 6000's for the R/L, and I have the 1000's for surround but haven't hooked them up. I even have the STR-DG920 on it's way (replacing the Onkyo 605). I really enjoy what I have.
