Default PS3 HDMI output problem, help please

I posted this in the game section, but I think, i will get better help here (sorry for double post, but I think, I will get more help here):

Today, I got my first Blu-ray movies in my mail.

I tried out 'Enter the Dragon' on my PS3. Wasnt planning on watching it, just to try it out, and make sure, the BD wasnt region locked (I'm European).

I was in the menu of Enter the Dragon, and I pressed the square button (just to find out what it does). All of a sudden, the screen went black, and didnt come back.

I tried restarting my PS3, didnt work.

I reset my PS3, i had picture over the regular standard cable, after the reset. I then went in the menu and selected HDMI. But after selecting HDMI, it just went black, I still had no picture over HDMI.

I looked at the cable itself, to see if it wasnt connected properly, it looked fine.
I reset it again to start over, still didnt work. I tried calling Sony, but they were closed for the day.

After about a half an hour, I went in the menu again to select HDMI, and this time it did work.

I dunno what it was, have you guys ever had such a problem?
And after reading this, what do you guys think, might have caused this problem?

I got my PS3 for about 2 or 3 weeks. I dont have any PS3 games, and havent watched any Blu-ray movies with it. So I havent given it a proper work-out yet.

I'm a bit worried, and I just hope this problem wont occur again.
What do you guys recommend me doing? Call Sony and change my PS3 with a new one?

Thanks

A little more info would help. How is your PS3 connected? PS3 => AV Receiver => TV? If so, what receiver do you have? PS3 => TV ?

If your PS3 is connected through a receiver, check your receiver setup menu to see if it is setup properly.

With HDMI there has to be a "handshake" between the PS3 and the TV and the TV's HDMI connection has to be HDCP (copy protection) compliant.

If you do have a picture now, you should be fine. From what I've seen it can take a little while to go from black to picture.

I have a different problem.

I have two TVs. My main family room TV with the surround sound is a Sony 34XBR800 set that is going on five years old now. It has a DVI connection that is HDCP compliant per Sony and the owner's manual. I also have a Vizio 32" set in the bedroom which has two HDMI inputs.

My PS3 will not work through the DVI input (HDMI to DVI cable) on the Sony. I've done everything there is to do to get this to work and it won't. My Directv HR20 DVR works fine to the TV.

The PS3 works fine through the HDMI connection on the Vizio. The PS3 even recognizes that there is an HDMI connection and asks if you want to use it!

So, I have the PS3 hooked up via Component to the Sony TV and it works fine.

Again, if you have a picture now through the HDMI connection, be grateful.
