Disney World is huge -- it's a monstrosity. Also was the best vacation of my life and it comes highly recommended.
However, I add this; I'm not sure a 4 year old will appreciate it as much as you might like. While I'm not necessarily trying to dissuade you or advocate a HT setup expansion, if it were me, I'd want to get the most out of a vacation like that, and go at a time when I knew my children would enjoy it the most possible, because let's be real in that a trip like that might well come just once in a lifetime. In my opinion, with a 4 year old in tow, now might not be the best time. JMO. ![]() |

I'm going in June. Just made my reservations a couple of days ago. Taking my GF for her first time. I have been several times but the last time was in 2000 so it's been a while for me. I had a great time but, I'm a pretty big kid.
The trips are pretty expensive but, I think it's worth it. Though, the prices for tickets to the parks kind of surprised me. I thought it was expensive here, it is ridiculous there. Thankfully I still have some tickets from the 90's that they will still take. I also highly recommend Islands of Adventure from Universal parks. I'm not big on Universal Studios but, as the last trip was with a friend that wrote the music for the MIB ride in the Universal park there, I got to go with him and got the VIP experience at both parks. If you don't have to many days skip it for the 4 d-land parks but, if you have the time and $$$ definitely go. Looking forward to seeing some of the new attractions they've put in and the updates they've made. Edit: Should mention as others have, the place is massive. Disney World itself is a hike pretty much anywhere. Going from one place to another is a trek. The result of to much land which is good for expansion but not for walking. We're staying at some kind of Marriot Residence Inn or Business hotel that is all suites or some such place. Her parents traded a time share elsewhere so that we could get rooms free of charge. I've stayed at the Peabody several times but no actual Disney Hotels. If we weren't being given rooms, I'd be all over a disney hotel. You can also request a DVD from Disney that is like a trip planner. I got one early in 2008 because we wanted to go last year but, her being laid off and not working put that plan off to this year.
The hotels in that general area are still pretty close to the parks and, once parked they will tram you from park to park. I would recommend as well, if you are in Disney World, do not stay until closing or close to closing. You get shuttled or boated to the park and back to the parking lot which means everyone trying to get back makes a giant uncomfortable people jam. It is a horrid experience. I can't believe they designed it that way with a giant body of water between parking lot and park. Unless things have changed which is possible in 8 years. |

4 or 5 years old should be fine. We took our boys to Disneyland as young as 2 and they had a great time. There is so much to do even for young kids. I realize you're going to DisneyWorld and not DL, but that shouldn't matter. Our youngest was almost 6 when we went our only time to DisneyWorld and he still remembers it and talks about. Go I say, go!

I'll second the shout out for Islands of Adventure. Excellent park, though less so the littl'uns. |

Disney World is GREAT. There is so much to do. I too am taking advantage of that deal. It is worth the price. You do have to go in June I believe so it will be hot and humid, but it is a blast. I recommend Epcot and the Animal Kingdom. Both "parks" are so much fun. If you guys like water parks, may I suggest Typhoon Lagoon. It is so much fun, that is a whole day trip itself. Everyone should go.
