Default Help Me Identify This Movie

After reading through another thread, I was reminded of a movie I saw in middle-school, but I can't think of what the movie was.

Here are some minor bits of info that might help. If anyone can figure this out for me, you are a genius.

-It was a bio-pic type of movie, about a guy with an hispanic-sounding name. I think the guy's last name had 3 syllables, but maybe not.

-I think it took place in South America, but maybe Central America.

-At least one scene in the movie took place at a sort of lumber mill, chopping down some of a forest (or technically a jungle?).

-The main character may or may not have gotten into some sort of drug ring (though for some reason I think he did).

-There is a scene where two prostitutes go up into the main character's room, which I clearly remember because my teacher had to run in front of the class and stand in front of the TV, while fast-forwarding through that scene.

-The movie couldn't have been released after ~1997 (because I saw it in 97). I remember it seeming like it was from the early 90's, so to be safe, I'd say the movie was from sometime between 1988-1997.

-It's possible that it was a made-for-TV movie, but we were watching a copy rented from Blockbuster.

-It's not Pablo Escobar.

-It's not Predator.

If anyone can help me identify the movie, or the name of the character in it, it will make my day. If I remember more things about the movie, I'll update the list.

I meant it might be a biographical movie. But if the character isn't a real person, then it wouldn't be. If I had to guess what it was about, I'd say it was about a guy who found his way into a life of crime, and started running a cartel. But maybe I imagined all that, and the movie was just about some guy promoting planting trees.

I saw it about 13 years ago now, and don't remember much about it.

Nope. I don't think anyone famous was in it, but then again i was only 12, so I didn't really know any actors/actresses except for huge names at the time (like Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, etc).

True. Except they moved across the country when I was in high school, and now I moved myself. So getting a hold of them isn't really an option.

Oh, that's right. Because not wanting to show nudity to kids is strictly a Puritan idea.

It's not about specifically showing them nudity. Nudity is natural, using clothes is something though useful when it's cold, nonetheless artificial.
But this could come as a surprise to some but I've never heard of kids suddenly going into heart attacks or dying or whatever just cause they saw boobs on TV. Or those nude beaches and camps would be full of kid's dead corpses lol.

Yourself, do you think something bad would have happened to you if your teacher had not run to "protect' you from the prostitutes scene ?
Nudity is natural but violence is wrong.

Causing a heart attack or death has nothing to do with whether something is appropriate or not, though I assume you didn't mean that literally. You might think wearing clothes is just for the practical reason of staying warm, but many other people disagree with you.

Anyhow, this isn't the place for this discussion, because I don't want this thread getting closed before I get this movie identified.

QUESTION:

Do you remember the reason (if there was one) that you were being shown this in school???? That may help identify, or help you remember the plot of the movie

Good question. I was trying to think of this, to help narrow it down, but I really have no idea. It was in a 7th grade social studies class, but I don't remember what we may have been studying that made this movie worth watching.

Even if I could find a required 7th grade curriculum for NY state, I doubt my teacher was following it. He seemed like a rebel.

I'm thinking "A Clockwork Orange". One of the dumbest movies I have ever seen but it's the only one I can remember seeing a guy taking two prostitutes to his room. The rest doesn't really fit tho so I'm probably wrong.
