Has no real bearing with low frequency effect and subwoofers.

the sub doesn't have to match your speakers.

Twitch!!! Why would you tell him that!?

You DON'T HAVE to match timbre on a Subwoofer to your frontstage...you would never be able to tell. Not saying that the subs you are suggesting are bad, just that he might find a sub he likes better than those two that aren't "timbre" matched to his speakers. You don't want to give misleading information.

I am using an HSU research sub, like SVS it is online purchase only. Since you live in the area you can come and check it out to see if you like it. HSU research VTF3 MK3

This is practically what I have, I love it. Let me know if you want to check it out, I actually have the VT3 MK2 (last version of it).

I've owned the 20-39PC+ for several years now...... TOTALLY worth the investment! Will never live without it. These guys really enjoy what they build and stand totally behind their product. You cant go wrong with a 3 yr warranty. Solidly built, Definate WOW-factor and highlight to any sound system. You get my WAY THUMBS UP!!! Wont be disappointed.

http://www.outlawaudio.com/products/lfmEX.html

They are on sale with no shipping no tax for $519 or two for $1038. I have one and I have still so impressed with the sound for both music and movies! They produce clean powerful bass down to 16hz! I would rather have two of these for about the price of that one you listed!

I have a SVS Subwoofer thats around the same price as yours and its nothing but superb quality. Now I'm not saying that you shouldn't look elsewhere, but that if you go with SVS you will not be disappointed no matter which subwoofer you get.

I have not heard these tube subs but my backround designing car audio years ago, I did not find tube subs to have as linear of a sound. I did listen to the svs 12" box and found it nice but it could not put out low frequencies below about 30 hz at higher volumes compared to the Outlaw. For music it was not as noticable except for a few tracks I tried that had low deep organs which caused the svs to break up but mainly at louder levels.

To me for the price of close to half and having a much lower frequency response of the Outlaw which can go down to 16hz and I've put it at very loud levels for many of the sci fi movies we love with never any issues with the subs breaking up or not handling any low end tones at some earthquaking db levels. Those tube svs are almost a grand and for $1038 you can get two LFM 1 Ex's and even one would probably sound better in my opinion but at that price and if he is ok with spending a grand I'd get two!
