Anyone see this flick yet? This might be the funniest documentary I have ever seen in my life. The Scientology and Mormon segments were the most hilarious parts. Anyone else have an opinion on it?

I loved the part when he was debating Jesus in the theme park.

I like the part where I didn't give a cent of my money or a minute of my time to watch that trash. Just my opinion.

How can you say something you've never seen is trash? That's not even an opinion, that's a judgement.

The movie didn't preach atheism. It preached open-mindedness and healthy skepticism. Hell, it preached agnosticism.

It is a fundamentally good thing.

I enjoyed watching it, but I don't know if I could justify owning it... seeing it once is probably enough for me.

1. I disagree w/ Bill Maher on almost every topic and position.

2. I watch his show, and will watch this movie, because it causes me to think outside of what I'm used to and see important things from a different point of view.

That said, I enjoyed Mr. Maher quite a bit more a couple of years ago when he pushed the buttons on both sides rather than going to standard anti-conservative material. I'm hoping he'll see with a Dem president and congress that there is a market for an outspoken guy down the middle that takes it to both sides.

Could we try to refrain from getting the thread locked. If you didn't see it you could just say no or avoid the thread instead of calling something you haven't seen trash and sparking debate; although I admit the topic of the film is debatable... I guess.

this movie really sucks.

although some parts were funny, the whole theme of the movie is retarded and totally one sided and pointless.

anyone can put together just one side of an issue and wrap it up in comedy so it's easy to swallow.

i watch tons of documentaries. it's my favorite genre. and this one is not good at being a documentary.

In the end I think it is really supposed to be taken as more of a comedy (I would hope) considering there really werent any interesting or intelligent discussions... but arguing with Jesus at the theme park cracked me up.

I saw it when it first came out, and only had one good laugh.

I did not like it, felt to biased and forced like Maher was telling me to change my views to agree with him.

I saw this in the theatre, thought it was good but really didn't offer anything new to someone who is already an atheist or agnostic. I brought my catholic mom and sister with me and even they enjoyed it (I was surprised).

The movie doesn't insult anyone unless the viewer is insecure in their beliefs, it simply offers opinions of another side of the story that has been told to you as truth from the day you were born.

But I cannot see me buying this, once you have seen it there really isn't any reason to own it... So I would suggest giving it a rent.

This is a tough call because here we have a thread about a film which talks about religion, so its difficult to talk about the film without discussing religion. I'm going to clean this up, and leave it open, but let me just make a few points:

1) If you haven't seen this film, you have no right to judge it, and most importantly, no reason to be in this thread. Please move on.

2) There is a reason why threads about "Passion for the Christ" and "Henry Poole is Here" haven't been closed - its because those who are against religion are showing restraint. I expect to see the same from those who are for religion.

And to those of you who were thoughtfully responding to the threadcrappers, sorry I had to delete your post. Can't delete the crap and leave the response.

I will close if you can't play nice!

Again, sad, but understood ultimately. Why some people have to ruin the discussion for others, I'll never fully-know.

Difference of opinion on the film? Yes. Difference of opinion on religion? No.
