Looking to buy a PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD10A blu-ray player that I bought for $400 back when the PS3 was almost $600, it works great. Thinking of selling for about $250 and getting a PS3 for blu-ray and games (have a 360 and wii). Worth it?

Good Idea! If you act fast, Dell has the 80 Gb PS3 for $340. Check it out.

I recommend waiting for the price drop this year, which is supposedly going to drop it to $299.

Thats true as its only speculation, but if I was in the market to buy a new one, I'd wait until then because I've heard its going to be the slim model to be introduced.

TC, I think you'll find that the PS3 now serves as a nice complement to the 360. They have their own heavy hitters like LBP, MGS4, Uncharted, and Ratchet along with solid niche games like Valkyrie Chronicles. Plus, with Killzone 2 and Street Fighter 4 coming up, it's not a bad time to think about purchasing one (the only reason I mention SF4 is because of the PS3 d-pad and the better extras the collector's edition comes with - SF movie on blu-ray instead of DVD and a Ryu figurine instead of C.Viper - if that matters to you at all...)

Blah. A $40 "possible" savings is not worth the 4-5 months of wait, EVEN if it happens.

The PS3 is easily worth $399 in my opinion, and for $340, it's nothing more than a steal at this point and time.

there is way to many rumors on the internet for the PS3 we can only trust what Sony says

Keep checking Circuit City. They had a whole mess of them at the one near me. The prices are only going to get slashed farther and farther. I'm sure they'll have one if you go there.

If not i'd definitely get one. Maybe one of the bundles so you get a game too right off, if that's your thing.

and unless you're going to download a lot or store a lot of photos/pics get the 80 over the 160. and if you need the space just put in your own hard drive.

Where do you live? Killzone 2 bundles will be out in the UK in Feb/March...

yeah they were only 10% off so most of the stuff was sitting. The one near me had 1 or 2. But the one near Santee (CA) had about 5 or 6.

I had to drive to the country to get my unopened TV... And just noticed them sitting in the floor waiting to be bought.

Killzone is one of the reasons I'm looking to buy a PS3! It will be nice having both systems and being able to get the best of each.
