Out of those you've listed, I prefer Polk Audio speakers. However, those are the only ones from the list that I've demo'd. I'd also consider Aperion Audio. Online only, but free 30-day trial (including shipping both ways). I have two Aperion systems and am very happy with both.

I have an Aperion 5.1 surround system with 422s (bookshelf speaker) with an 8" sub, and another 5.1 system with 533T (towers), 534SS surrounds, and a 12" sub. THAT system totally rocks! I've never heard anything that sounds better- especially in that price range. Both of these speaker lines have been updated and renamed. I think it's something like "4 series" and "5T series" now...

First off, all those companies make some damn good speakers.

All of them have products that shine, some better than others....the question you should ask is...which company has the best speaker that suits my needs and price range?

After evaluating the options (which are limited because I went the in-wall route) I found Polk to be the best value. For most people, including me, the speakers I chose sound jawdropping. For audiophiles, they may be low end or unacceptable. My ear isn't refined enough to discern the differences between a $350 subwoofer and a $2,000 subwoofer...or I don't care enough.

I would consider Polk the best on the list for speakers, with HSU the clear best for subwoofers. However, for speakers, I would strongly urge you to consider speakers not contained on the list. Not knowing your tastes in sound or your budget, I would suggest checking out the following speaker brands, all of which are superior IMHO (excluding HSU).

Monitor Audio
Paradigm
B&W
Martin Logan
Definitive Technology
Dali
Epos
PSB

You'll have to let your ears be the deciding factor for you, depending on your budget. There are a lot of great speaker options available that offer highly detailed immersive sound.

B&W...oh, never mind.

I'd go with Polk as well, although I haven't checked out their stuff in a while. I've heard they are starting to lose quality, but not sure about that.

Non of the above. IMHO,the best Speaker Companies are the ones that build their speakers from the ground up-meaning they don't outsource materials/labor and technology. Out of 300 plus speaker manufactures only a handful of companies do this-Focal,Dynaudio and B$W come to mind...

When it comes to customer care and fast shipping, Hsu Research is the best. Dr. Hsu called me on the phone when I had a problem with my vintage Hsu sub and a few years ago, he spent several hours with me in their headquarters in Anaheim, California. Of course, their products are also first class.

I second the Paradigm Monitor Series. For the price, I'm not sure anything comes close. Also, the Rockets that AV123 has on special right now are pretty friggin sweet.

Exactly , most people dont want to do the research on their own ...... What do we mean by better ,,??? Sound company profile ? profitabilty?... Heres my .02 go to an audio retailer and demo the speakers you are interested in ... Your ears are the judge not mine or anyone else in this forum , I know this is a blanket answer but asking someone what speaker of amplifier or sub is better and asking a bunch of strangers is kind of subjective....Im not being a wise ass Im saying enjoy the audition of whatever speakers you want in your price range. All the companies you mentiones make good speakers...Just give them a listen first
