Default so my dad bought a bose theater yesterday :(

i tried convincing him for about two hours in the store that bose wasn't worth the money and that he shouldve gotten the onkyo s5100.but noooooo he listened to all the salesmen in the store(pc richards btw) who can barely speak proper english saying bose is the best speaker in the world,i even argued with two of them bringing up klipsch and jbl and polk audio along with dolby digital true hd and dts ma audi..none of them had a clue what i was talking about.

so we brought the system home hooked it up and for $1,700 it's trash, the sub doesn't even sound like a sub at all, sounds like a boombox but the cube speakers i'll give them that much they do put out more than you expect but still this system isn't worth more than $700..man i hate bose marketing strategy..but i can't lie it does work

You should bring your pops to these forums so we can tell him some truths. There's nothing wrong with Bose, except that it charges too much for what it does and has that crooked advertising. You said, $1700? What model number was it?

He could've gotten some great towers and center, great actual subwoofer (not a bass module) and a decent receiver at that price!

OP, not your money, guess you should be happy it's not t.v. speakers..... I didn't have cable until I went to college, if you have blu-ray, I think you should just be happy with what you have

BOOOOOOO!!! i worked @ best buy for 6 years and think i sold less than a dozen of those lifestyle systems.

the little speakers would be nice for music throughout the house, but the sub's would be better off @ the bottom of my dumpster.

Something being worthy is in the eyes or this case "ears" of the beholder!

I don't wanna crap on this thread..I really don't, but can we hold back on the Bose defamation? I'm no fan either, but to each their own and we shouldn't judge. Recommend, offer alternatives, give guidance...that is what we should be doing.

Show your dad this thread and show him these speakers and these speakers and tell me that he still would prefer his Bose system.

I guess if he thinks the money is worth it that's all that matters. My dad is the same way for some reason he loves Bose and stands by their products.

yeah i'm still at home,i'm 18 but like my room is like a best buy showroom lol,idk he just went by word of mouth a bunch of other idiots who know nothing about speakers saying bose is the best, the salesman even looked away when i told him take down your little bose set-up and lemme compare it side by side with the onkyo's..he just looks away..ugh i'm still gonna try to force him to take it back, because we just purchased a house and kinda on a budget right now and a 1,700 crappy "home theater" is the last thing he needs

For that kind of money, he could have gotten a really nice set-up with money left over.

I have an old Bose Accoustimass 3 Series in my kids playroom and it's absolutely awful.

Even my 12 year old daughter says the sound is kinda "screwy" and that my Sony set-up in the living room sounds a lot better.

Bose are good in some cases. Mainly classical music demos and such, but overall, Bose are overpriced pieces of s&*^!

For 1700, you could have gone with an Harman Kardon receiver and some nice Polk, Cambridge, Infinity speakers that would totally rock the house.

Take the Bose back. You'll thank us later.

I would have physically kept him from leaving the store. LITERALLY!!! I would have wrestled my own father in a public retail location until he submitted and reversed the transaction.

bose really that bad? i have it my car...a 93 honda accord, now the front speakers work, and the back ones dont. i am thinking of doing my car all oem, with a bit lower stance..some old school wheels. so i have thought about buying bose speakers to replace the ones in my car. they dont sound bad to me, but i listen to rock. i am not into hard core bass. also if bose was that bad, why does ferrari choose them to be in the 612? i havent herd bose in years, but when i first herd them, i thought they sounded great. my buddy has a kipsac or w/e and it sounds great to. so if you wanted a great inexpensive system to bring your movie room to llife, what could you build for 600?
