Default Spiderman 3 BD versions?

Kind of confused about Spiderman 3. On Amazon, I notice that they are selling a 2-disc version.

On the "other" seller page, I notice that the 3rd party new/used for sale are single disc versions that came with the PS3.

I also recall reading something about problems with the PS3 movie version not playing in other BD players?

Can someone give me the straight dope on this so if/when I opt to buy this movie I choose the right one?

Thank you!

The single disc came with PS3. I haven't heard of any trouble playing in players other than PS3.

I have the Trilogy box set, myself. As far as I know, the discs in the set that I have are identical to the discs in the 2-disc Spiderman 3 release by itself, though there are some minor packaging variation (the color of the 'spine' on the box set version of the movie is blue, while the single release is red).

As for the single disc version that came with PS3, I do not have it, but I am fairly certain that the disc, itself, is just the same as disc 1 in the 2-disc sets. I don't see why it wouldn't work in other BD players, and I've never heard anyone else say that they've had a problem using it in other players and I don't see why it wouldn't, but I guess I could be wrong. They just didn't include the second disc with the extras in it as far as I can tell.

I don't see why they would go out of their way to make the disc incompatible with other Blu-Ray players. That just doesn't make any sense to me.

Single disc version with no problems on PS3. I think I paid around $5.00 for it used.

Thanks folks. Is there any compelling reason to get the 2-disc version? I.E. are the extras worth the $$$ ?

If you're interested in getting Spidey3, I would suggest immediately going for the box with all three movies. Even though I got Spidey 3 (single disc edition) for free with my PS3, I love the movies too much and got the box set. I'm very happy with it!

I think Gamestop now owns all existing copies of the one disc Spiderman 3.

i agree because then that way you get the 1st 2 movies because they are not sold seperately yet unless you want to wait till the next Spider-Man movie comes out to theatres to see a release of Spider-Man 1 and 2 seperately with extras included. Spider-Man 2 in the boxset does feature the theatrical version and the extended cut both on 1 disc.

Yep, my PS3 came with Spider-man 3....it was part of the 40GB PS3 units for a good amount of time. Basically, its a repackaged version of the first disc from the two disc set. Instead of "Experience High Definition," it says "Experience On Your Playstation 3" on the bottom banner.

Even Talladega Nights was a different for the PS3 bundle, it was the theatrical version of the film with no extras and Dolby Digital audio only.
