Default Considering a Panny Plasma

Ive never really researched Plasmas, only a little and i am confused on a few things.

1) how is the life expectancy for plasmas compared to LCDtvs?
2) are plasmas better then LCDS for sports( i watch a ton of basketball and nfl)
3) are plasmas better then LCDS for video games?( i play a ton of ps3 games)
4) if i get a 42 inch Panny, would i notice the difference between 1080P and 720P?

planning on waiting 6 months to get one, what is a good price for these things? i saw $750 for a 720P and 888 for a 1080P for the 80U.

do u guys reccomend any others?
im gonna save up $870 for a plasma or maybe LCD depending on what would be better for someone likes me ( who plays a lot of games and watches sports)

thanks for all your help.
currently i have an HP LCD 32" 720P which i got for $400 locally.
