Default Help with masking

I need advice. I have a 70" Sony SXRD rear projection (KDSR70XBR2). I would appreciate any ideas on how to mask the picture for a better viewing experience. Sometimes you can still see where the black bars are, and if there was a way to cover them up, that would be easy to use, I would be most grateful for your suggestions. I do understand that this is a fairly simple thing to do on a screen mounted to your wall, but on this TV.... I am not sure what to do. Thanks.

Thank you for the suggestion. My problem is making this "WAF" approved. I thought about using velcro but the wife would not accept little patches of velcro on the tv. And, I thought it looked kinda bad too. I will put my brain to work and try to resolve this problem. Thanks again for your response... BTW, your HT is fantastic!! Great accomplishment.

i did the same thing with mine. i used two pieces of 3/8" x 4" wood i had to find these at a lumber store in the wood trim section (home depot doesn't have them wide enough). then cover them with black velvet, then i used small strips of Velcro for easy removal, that way there is only tiny strips left on the TV when there not in use.

i just looked at your gallery and noticed that your tvs bezel is glossy....the velcro would stand out more.......mine was flat black.

ok. then you need some kind of setup that wraps around to the back.
the top, something that would hook over the top of the set.
the bottom, perhaps something like wall picture hooks. you would hang the masking like a picture. but the hooks would be on the back or sides of the set.

thanx. it works quite well.

Thank you! I have an idea with picture hooks that I think will work. Thanks to all of you for your input. I really appreciate it. I will let you know how it all turns out.

been thinkin, i do that sometimes

there are plastic hooks, that have sticky tape on the back. like, $2 for a pack of 4-6, or something. just look in the hanger/hook section at your local store.
