How do I know which player is upconverting my VIDEO PS3 or ONKYO 805 - Blu-ray Forum

Hi folks-

How do I determine what is upconverting my dvd video between the ps3 or onkyo 805? Also, which is better in upconverting ps3 or onkyo 805?

It's all driven by the video settings in both your PS3 and 805. If you have your PS3 set to upscale DVD video, then it will upscale before your 805 gets it. If you turn the scaler off in the PS3 video settings, you will pass a 480p image from the PS3, and the 805 will scale it (assuming you have upscaling enabled in the 805's settings).

I did not know the 805 could scale an hdmi signal? (the 806 yes, but the 805??)

Are you thinking of the upconversion feature? this converts analog into HDMI @ 720p.
