What was it? Where were you? Did it change you? (Were you underage at a theater?)

Ironically, (with Hitchcock as you avatar), I saw Psycho at home when I was about 6 (way back in 1983). Scared the crap out of me, I didn't want to go to my room in the basement for a while without having the light on first. I thought Norman Bates mom was gong to be sitting on our landing.
But it was the foundation for loving of horror/suspenseful movies ever since then. ![]() |

the original Dawn of the Dead back in the neighborhood of 1979 or 80...I was 9 or 10, yeah, to say it "changed" me would be an understatement. My older brother who was 14 was my responsible guardian and we saw it at our local mall cinema. The biker gang gut chomping got to me (didn't puke, but it really made me think "oh that's not right!"), but it planted the seed that I've nurtured into a 30 year love affair with the horror genre.

Don't really remember but it had to be an Arnie movie. Probably T2 when I was 6 or 7 (on VHS baby).
My dad never cared, my mom would yell at him. We did see Jurassic Park (i know it's pg-13) in theaters when my brother was 5 or 6 (i was 7 or 8), he was terrified for a long time and my mom was so furious. |

I think the first R rated movie I ever saw was either Revenge of the Nerds or Nightmare on Elm Street when I was around 5. I really wasn't that scared by Nightmare on Elm Street except when my older brother would sneak into my room at night and jump on me and say he was Freddy Kruger.
My first R-rated movie in the theater was Speed when I was 12. However, the projector broke during the previews and I didn't end up seeing it. The first movie I remember seeing in the theater is I Know What You Did Last Summer when I was 15. My older brother tried to buy us tickets but they wouldn't sell to him because he wasn't my guardian so we ended up buying tickets to another movie and sneaking it. |
